At Ashburton Cricket Club we are committed to supporting mental wellbeing through all we do.

We recognise the difficulties that people can face and how hard things can feel. We also understand that sport and cricket can play a positive role in helping ourselves physically and mentally and that cricket being a social sport, can provide way being just the on field benefits.

As a club we work with the Devon Cricket Foundation and Opening Up Cricket to ensure that help is signposted to all who may need it and that we provide a positive and supportive of environment for all.

As part of this we work with and signpost people to a number of different organisations, many of which are on the Devon Cricket page above. Other organisations we are keen to raise attention of and work with are…

Opening Up Cricket

Opening Up Cricket are a charity run by cricketers for the cricket community which was formed in response to the death of Sefton Park CC wicket-keeper, Alex Miller, and a will to promote positive mental health in our sport.

As a result, the organisation was created with the aim of speaking to local cricketers about the experience of losing Alex in the hope that more conversations about this topic could prevent further tragedies.

Opening Up Cricket run a number of free, in person and online workshops and sessions to help clubs improve their wellbeing support.

Action for happiness

Are a movement of people taking action to create a happier and kinder world, together.

Action for Happiness brings people together and provides practical resources. They support people to learn evidence-based skills for happier living, feel a sense of belonging and commit to personal action to create more happiness, for themselves and others.
