Ashburton travelled to play winless Dartington on a baking hot day and skipper Steve Edmonds won the toss and elected to bat.
Openers Lloyd White and Dan Coles duly obliged by putting on 230, a new club and division record for the first wicket. White was dominant clubbing 133 from just 122 balls faced while Coles supported well with 71 from 100 balls. When both fell, it was left to Ryan May (26) and Jon Malan (19no) to take Ashes to a final total of 304 for 3 in their 45 overs.
Dartington's reply got off to the worst possible start as their pro Raheja smashed an Edmonds delivery straight at Coles. Wickets then fell regularly as Ryan May (2 for 38) and Matt Coon (2 for 17) got stuck into the middle order. Chris Cook (52) Justin Osborne (22), Oliver Perkins (19) and Subin Sebastian (18) all put up some resistance but Chris Yeo (3 for 27) mopped up the stragglers as Darts were all out for 162 with 3 overs remaining.
Ashburton second team ensured a good day all round as they defeated South Devon seconds by 9 wickets.
Robin Lambert (6 overs, 4 for 7) was well supported by AJ West (2 for 24) and Matt Partridge (2 for 26) as South Devon were shout out for 96.
The loss of skipper Phil Pascoe (7) on 18 didn't slow Ashes down as Marcus West (56no) and Lambert (20no) ensured no further mishaps as they raced home by 9 wickets with 13.3 overs to spare.
Dan Coles (71) and Lloyd White (133) who posted a club record 230 for the opening wicket.
