Ashburton entertained Kingsbridge in week 16 of their Devon League C West fixtures.
After winning the toss and electing to bat they got off to a steady start as Ash Berry (18) and George Yabsley (13) got them to 49 for 1. The wheels then fell of spectacularly as Bhanu De Silva (4 for 25) and Neal Peach (3 for 16) ran through the Ashes order as they were all out for just 88 in 30.2 overs. Toby Pascoe (11) and Lloyd White (10) the only other batters in double figures.
Chasing such a low total, Kingsbridge started positively. James Fraser bowled a lively, but luckless opening spell with several balls dropping just out of reach of fielders. Aditya More (3 for 20) picked off James Westlake (19), Richard Carr (25) and Freddie Ford (16) but Kingsbridge reached the target for the loss of just those three wickets in the 18th over.
Ashburton second team travelled to play their Kingsbridge counterparts. Kingsbridge batted first and amassed 239 for 7 in their 40 overs thanks to Alex Browne (87), Clive Clark (65) and Matt Hammett (55). Luke Pascoe (3 for 18) and Marcus West (2 for 20) the pick of the bowlers for Ashburton.
In reply Ashes struggled to keep up with the required rate and finished their 40 overs on 169 for 7. West (49) Greg Robinson (39no) and Jack Warren (27) the main run getters. Jai Singh (2 for 21) and Clark (2 for 28) the pick of the home bowlers.
