Chairman Crouch nominated for NatWest Cricket OSCA

Ashburton CC are delighted to announce that our very own Club Chairman, Jerry Crouch has been recognised by the Devon Cricket Board (DCB) as one of the nominees for the annual NatWest OSCAs (Outstanding Services to Cricket Awards).

Jerry follows in the footsteps of fellow clubmen Graham Pascoe, Lloyd White and Vernon Coon who have all previously claimed an OSCA award in various sections.

Jerry, 53, who first joined Ashburton in 1988 has been nominated in the ‘Lifetime Achiever’ category and will join fellow Devon-wide nominees at the Cooper Associates County Ground Taunton, where he has been invited by the DCB to watch a day of county cricket in the hospitality section.

Jerry currently holds the official position as Club Chairman and Colts Co-Ordinator but his commitment goes well beyond these titles. He can often be found down at Varwell Field, assisting groundsman Alan Churchill in any way he can – strimming, rolling or preparing any pitch – as well as ensuring the clubhouse is as sparkling as possible in preparation for hosting any fixture or event.

Jerry is frequently the first to arrive and last to leave as well as putting his hand up to help run social events, serve drinks behind the bar, cleaning the lines and the ensuring the club is running smoothly as a whole. Jerry undertakes all his responsibilities whilst also representing the 2nd XI where he is just 1 wicket shy of the 250 landmark.

Jerry kept it short and sweet whilst reflecting on his nomination; ‘Obviously I am very proud to be nominated for the award. It certainly makes it all worthwhile, but I genuinely enjoy doing what I can. I wish I could do more but sometimes there are not enough hours in the day! The award is testament to our entire committee who all work so hard to make Ashburton as successful as possible.’

Congratulations Jerry on behalf of the club and thank you for all that you do!
