All-rounder Tom Durman has returned to Varwell after a short spell at Abbotskerswell. Durman is in both the top 10 run scorers and top 10 wicket takers for Ashburton with 2253 runs at 26.20 and a best of 103 and 166 wickets at 17.46 with a best of 7-13. The club has also put pen to paper with batsman Dan Coles who transfers from Chudleigh and South African Tristan Wakefield who has signed with Ashburton as our overseas player for 2017. A genuine all-rounder based in Queensland, Australia, Wakefield has a highest score of 129 and best bowling figures of 6-36.
On confirmation of the signings, 1st XI captain Ashley Berry said:
"We are very pleased to be making these signings. We welcome Tommy back and know what a quality player he is. We played against Dan during his time at Halberton so we know he'll be a great addition to the squad. Tristan arrives in early April and he will not only add depth to the team, but will be able to share his experience with our younger players and our colts. This season holds a lot of promise for the club and we're now in a great position to fulfil that potential."
